One of the many ways professionals network on Twitter is via organized “tweetchats” — group chats that takes place at a specific time with a specific hashtag. Because we work with people in the PR world, we’ve started tuning in to #pr20chat on Tuesday at 5pm PST/8pm EST. It’s an interesting meeting of PR minds on the Twitterverse. This week we used RowFeeder to track tweets during #pr20chat. Here is what we found:
Tweetchat hashtags have an interesting pattern. When the chat is off, activity on the hashtag is virtually non-existent. When the chat begins, a big spike occurs and activity remains constant for the set time. There is a minor trickle of reaction and then the hashtag fades out again until the next week.
The #pr20chat draws a influential crowd. Only 3% of the participants have fewer than 100 followers and 44% have more than 1,000 followers.
The #pr20chat draws significant engagement from each participant. The average participant posted ~9 tweets during the timeframe tracked. The above chart shows the top 25 most active participants this week.
