Yesterday we saw a couple of big announcements in the tech world. First was the new Barnes & Noble Nook Color, aka “The Readers Tablet.” As with any good marketing launch, I’m willing to bet that they had yesterday down as their tablet announcement date for quite a while. And lucky for them, based on our tracking of headlines, they received a good volume of coverage. However, Google just so happened to launch G+ business pages yesterday and they also received a similar volume of attention by those same publications.
But… timing – is – everything. And while the two announcements received relatively the same amount of press coverage, when it came to consumer engagement, the Nook was completely overshadowed by G+ Pages. Sorry B&N, it’s always hard to compete with the Big Man on Campus.
