The countdown to the Opening Ceremonies and the start of the 2012 Olympics is on. It’s not a surprise this year will be the most social games yet. We’ve already seen more Olympic tweets today than all of the Beijing Olympics. As athletes and fans arrive in London there is no shortage of Tweets, Instagrams, Pins, and Shares. It’s a lot to keep track of. Leading up to this the kick-off of London 2012, we teamed up with our partners at Klout to analyze the Tweets from the most influential athletes for the fancy infographic below. As of today, the crown goes to LeBron James with more than 7 million potential impressions (and counting) from his recent Olympic Tweet. Interestingly, Lebron’s top Tweet was an Instagram photo. With 17% of Tweets from top athletes this week containing an Instragram link, we’re betting that photos and filters will be a big trend for the summer games. We’ll keep watching to see how social media plays into the London 2012 experience and which social networks bring home the gold.
