4 Things to Expect from the 2017 State of Social Marketing Report

We are eagerly preparing for the release of our 2017 State of Social Marketing Report. This year, we’re going to do things a bit differently.

Here are four changes we’ve made to this year’s report.

1. Global Insight

37% of the world’s population is on social media.

Our 2017 report reflects the experiences of marketers from all over the world. Nearly 2,800 social media marketing professionals from 111 countries responded to our survey, giving us a greater, global perspective of our industry. This is by far our biggest report to date.

2. Comparing Agency and Brand Perspective

This year’s report provides insight from both the agency and brand perspective. We realize that agency marketers and brand marketers have unique experiences from each other. The challenges and opportunities presented to these two sectors are highlighted throughout the report, with direct comparisons.

For example, we found that both brands and agencies are having difficulty quantifying the revenue driven by social efforts. 27.5% of agencies reported not being able to quantify revenue, compared to 41% of brands. It’s possible to attribute such a large difference to the great expectation of agencies to report out to clients that their investment in social is paying off.

3. Major Network Updates

As usual, we took advantage of the opportunity to track the growth of social media’s biggest networks. This year we’ve included major updates from each network that directly impacts marketers. These updates include how networks have integrated new technology (Snapchat’s dive into virtual reality with Spectacles), how networks are connecting social and commerce (Facebook’s Marketplace or Instagram’s shopping tags), and how live video is changing the game for marketers (Twitter’s Live 360 Periscope or YouTube’s mobile live streaming).

4. An Exclusive First Look by Joining Our Webinar

Perhaps the biggest change we’ve made to this year’s report includes an exclusive webinar where we discuss the results of the survey and its impact on social marketers. Those who attend our webinar will receive a first look at our survey results, with early access to our report before its official release.
