50% of Instagram Comments Come Within 10 Hours of Posting
In our recent study of the Interbrand Top 100 Companies, we analyzed 82 of the world’s top brands including MTV, Starbucks, Adidas, Nike, and Audi.
The study uncovered some interesting engagement trends from these best-in-class companies. Did you know that 69% of all comments on brand posts come in the first 48 hours?
While the average posts reaches 50% of comments in 10 hours, high-performing posts (posts with double the average engagement) peak later, taking more than 19 hours to hit 50% of total comments.

On the flip side, poor-performing posts (posts with half the average engagement) reach 50% of their total comments in under three hours.
As a social marketer, if you see a significant drop-off in comments early on, it might be a cue to figure out what you’re doing wrong and shift tactics on your next post.
