6 Sessions I’m Looking Forward to at #SMMW14
Tomorrow, the Simply Measured team is shipping out to San Diego for Social Media Marketing World. With a line-up featuring some of the biggest names and brands in social media, it will be a challenge to see everything you want to see. It can get a little crazy during conferences, which is why it’s important to go in with a game plan. We wrote a blog post on how to prepare, and one of the key focuses is knowing which sessions you want to attend. After hours of agonizing over this-or-that, I finally put together my SMMW must-see-sessions list. Check them out below!
Mari Smith – Profitable Facebook Marketing
Thursday, 10:30am – Mari Smith is a Facebook expert. With tons of respect in the social media community (Forbes Power Influencer, social media speaker, author, coach, etc.), Mari’s talk is sure to be advanced and informative. Especially considering all the talk swirling around Facebook’s dwindling organic reach, we can expect Mari to address best practices for content creation, audience growth and engagement.
Jeff Gibb – The Data Geek’s Guide to Social Media Marketing
Thursday, 11:30am – OK, you knew this one was coming. We might be a little biased, but come on! Social media analytics is hot right now. Whether you’re a seasoned social measurement vet or a newbie trying to bust onto the scene, Jeff’s presentation will give you insight into the world of analytics, what it means and why it matters for your brand. Also, you can say hi to me live-Tweeting in the front row!
Panel – Real-Time Marketing: How to Engage Fans in the Moment
Thursday, 2:15 – This might be the hottest topic at the conference. Coming off the heals of the Super Bowl and Oscars, it’s more apparent now than ever, that real-time marketing is an art to be mastered. Jay Bear and experts from brands like AMC Theaters or Hilton will be on the panel asking the question, “Is your social media marketing fast enough?” This one made my list because it’s sure to be chalk-full of best practices, how-tos and winning examples.
Panel – How Big Brands Creatively Engage Their Facebook Fans
Thursday, 3:15pm – This panel is S-T-A-C-K-E-D. With Rick Mulready (pictured left) and Umang Shah from Walmart, Nikki Newman (Whole Foods) and Joel Price (San Diego Chargers) all on teh same stage, I’m sure there will be no shortage of great info. If you’re curious how you should be planning your Facebook strategy come Q2, this panel is for you.
Kim Garst – How to Use Twitter to Grow Your Brand, Leads and Sales
Friday, 9:45am – Kim Garst, another decorated social media expert, will be walking through how to build a Twitter content strategy, increase your brand awareness, generate leads, and grow your sales. For any Twitter marketer, this is a must-see. Don’t forget to take notes!
Neal Schaffer – 9 Ways to Stand Out From Your Competitors Using Social Media
Friday, 10:45am – Neal Schaffer, a social media veteran and a good friend of ours, has one of the most interesting sessions on the list. There’s a lot of talk surrounding “who’s doing social right,” when the conversation should be, “who’s doing social different.” Neal will provide a fresh view of how you can use social media to differentiate yourself and we can’t wait to see the data!
