Twitter News Velocity: Arizona vs. Oil Spill

Twitter News Velocity: Arizona vs. Oil Spill Adam Schoenfeld Blogger Extraordinaire Simply Measured

The Gulf Oil Spill and public debate around Arizona’s immigration law have been the biggest news stories this week. We’ve been using RowFeeder to track Twitter activity for both stories. In the coming days we’re planning additional analysis of these stories, including a geographic mapping of activity. In total we’ve captured >100K tweets for each story. A high level view of the activity over time is shown below.

Both stories have had steady volume since 5/1. The Oil Spill had a higher velocity in total, but the Arizona conversation is on the rise today.
We’ll continue to track this news and post additional analysis soon. If there is a specific analysis you’d like to see on this dataset, drop us a line on Twitter (@RowFeeder).
