Welcome Social Media to the Digital Family
It’s that time of the year again! Airports are bustling, eggnog is flowing, and marketers are working around the clock. The holidays are officially upon us and, at Simply Measured, we’re thrilled to celebrate something very special this year.
Since its conception, social media has been the black sheep of the #DigitalFam, marching to the beat of its own drum: unique, intriguing, a bit immature. But in 2016, with the advent of social attribution, we saw the end of that era. No longer are social marketers limited by what they can or can’t show with data. Now, we can show all the conversions, business value and revenue that our channel has driven along with the best of them.
Social media, its audience and its marketers have come a long way in a short period of time. Social media has quickly grown into one of digital’s top investments (only second to mobile marketing), and it doesn’t appear as if that’s slowing down.
Despite all of this, we’ve still been cornered at the kid’s table during Thanksgiving. Why? Well, there’s this little problem we’ve always had —- it’s called measuring ROI. 61% of marketers reported this as social media marketing’s biggest challenges. We’ve all heard it before, “Engagement is well and good, but what about the dollars and cents?”
Well, 2016 was a lot of things, but it did hold a bright spot for social marketers. In 2016, we saw the end of the social ROI conundrum. With the advent of Social Attribution, marketers finally had what they needed. Social media has always had the audience, the tools, the platform… but now marketers have the insights to truly partner with their digital counterparts.
The days of being sequestered at the kid’s table during digital marketing’s holiday dinners are over. This holiday season, we’re celebrating the new-and-improved #DigitalFam. Welcome home, social media, to the digital marketing family. Now, let’s eat some damn turkey.
