We are looking to hire an engineer who enjoys solving large and complex problems. At Simply Measured you will have the opportunity to work on a Social Data Search/Analytics Engine. We process billions of records from multiple social networks as well as many other forms of online data. Our technology’s backend stack includes real-time distributed processing with Storm, Batch processing within Hadoop’s Map/Reduce, Search via Elasticsearch, and a wide variety of other technologies and research, including natural language processing and machine learning. Additionally, we deploy a variety of web services in both Java and Go. We are constantly looking to innovate new technologies as well as contribute back to the community.

 

What you get to do:

  • Architect and Develop products from start to end.
  • Work on the core data pipeline and search technologies across multiple data models.  
  • Work on a wide variety of web services that touch all points of the company.
  • Collaborate with Product team in planning upcoming work as well as drive innovation.

 

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Mathematics
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
  • Understands complexities of distributed computing and scaling.
  • Experience with Java. Java 8 and we readily enjoy lambdas.
  • Familiar with Hadoop ecosystem: Map/Reduce, HDFS, HBase.
  • Familiar with Spring Web Services: Spring, Hibernate, JPA, MySQL, Json, Postgres
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch at scale, even if only used in ELK.
  • Solid testing skills.
  • Extra bonus if interested in processing natural language, ranging from: normalization, extracting features/information, tokenization, matching engines, regression models, forecasting.
  • Extra bonus if interested in mathematics.
