Our first question at the Simply Measured office was “Which ones are available?”
The second question was “How can we graph this?”
That got the wheels turning and helped me get over the fact that Gisele makes $45 million a year…I hate you even more Tom Brady.
We decided to chart the Klout score and Twitter following in relation to income level. Although the two seem to go side-by-side, income doesn’t directly translate to social influence:
Oprah, it’s no surprise, topped the chart financially, earning over $100 million more than the closest salary. While her $165 million annual income dwarfs the competition, her social influence, however is lower than the majority of her counterparts (Oprah’s Book Club members must be too busy for social media).
Lady Gaga, however seems to be dominating the social world, with a Klout score of 93, and over 29 million followers (or “Little Monsters” if you’re as pop-culture savvy as I am) on Twitter.
Rhianna, Britney Spears and Katy Perry also ranked in the top tier of social influencers. Spears had the highest overall Klout score of 95, and Katy Perry tops the chart with over 27 million Twitter followers.
While this data gives us a good snapshot of social influence, we’re not immune to the fact that none of these women have weighed in, and for the correct price, any one of them could buy all the influence they want.
